Abstract
Slow ripening and long shelf life of tomato fruits are traits controlled by several ripening inhibitor genes (nor – non-ripening, nr – never ripe, rin – ripening inhibitor, alc alcobaca). In our tomato breeding programs, the best results had the combination of rin/rin+ genotype.
Fruits of these genotypes ripen slowly, have a shelf life of 2–3 weeks and at the same time have relatively good color, firmness and taste.
The results are tomato hybrids Nada F1 and Sampion F1.
Hybrid Nada F1 is indeterminate, with large habitus and a good amount of foliage.
Fruits are very firm, round to flattened globe, smooth, without the green shoulder and average weight is 200–220 g.
Unripe fruits are dark green, while ripened fruits are deep red.
This hybrid is resistant to Verticillium albo-atrum, Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici and Meloidogyne spp.
Hybrid Sampion F1 is indeterminate, with medium habitat and a good amount of foliage.
Fruits are very firm, round and smooth, without the green shoulder and ribs, and average weight is 180–200 g.
Unripe fruits are light green, while ripened fruits are deep red.
