MONITORING AND MAPPING TEMPERATURE AND HUMIDITY IN GREENHOUSES

This work is the second step of a broader scope project aimed at developing a methodology to validate CFD models and simulations for their application in greenhouse technology.
It relies on a data acquisition system and its metrological characterisation (accuracy, sensibility and repeatability) described in a previous paper (Suay et al., 2006). Experiments took place in a greenhouse with a span of 42 m². Thirty eight temperature probes were uniformly distributed and placed in a cross section, in such a way that each sensor represented the temperature average of a surface of approximately 1 m². Twenty humidity probes were also placed uniformly, representing a surface slightly larger than 2 m². Data recording frequency was 1 min.
Multiple combinations of vent openings were tested in order to generate different variations in the microclimate.
Temperature and humidity curves are obtained and used to estimate time intervals for stationary simulations.
Finally, a qualitative analysis of the system is performed and future system specifications are pointed out.
