RESISTANCE TO FUNGICIDES AMONG BOTRYTIS CINEREA ISOLATES FROM TOMATO AND OTHER HOSTS IN ISRAEL

Abstract
The total of 712 B. cinerea isolates from 8 hosts in 21 locations throughout Israel were examined for resistance to anilinopyrimidine, hydroxyanilide, phenylpyiridinamine and phenylpyrrole fungicides, and to older benzimidazole and dicarboximide fungicides using mycelial growth test.
Resistance to benzimidazoles and dicarboximides was widely spread accounting 27 and 37% of isolates tested, respectively.
Isolates resistant to pyrimethanil were found with a frequency of about 3%. Resistance to fludioxonil and phenhexamid was rare (about 0.2%). No isolates strongly resistant to fluazinam were found.
Among isolates found to be resistant, only about 30% were resistant to one class of fungicides, whereas the remaining isolates exhibited resistance to two or more fungicides simultaneously.
Twenty-four different resistance phenotypes were recovered.
Resistance was more frequent among isolates from greenhouses than among isolates from open fields.
Low positive cross-resistance was found between fluazinam and iprodione: isolates resistant to iprodione were less sensitive to fluazinam.
