Abstract
Nowadays, there are numerous models able to simulate crops behaviour under different water stress conditions.
However, none of them takes into account the effect of irrigation water uniformity on yield.
The developed model simulates the uniformity effect on yields and its repercussion on gross margin.
The application of the model to a maize crop in Albacete (Spain) indicates that the percentage of appropriately irrigated area from an economic point of view depends on both water availability for irrigation and uniformity of water in the soil.
Results offered by the model may be useful when designing the irrigation strategy of irrigable areas with limited water resources.
