Abstract
The influence of different nitrogen forms (ammonium, sodium and calcium nitrate, urea, ammonium sulphate, all of them in solid form, and liquid nitrogen) has been investigated in field experiments of blanched celery.
The effect of different doses of these sources of nitrogenous fertilizers and fractionation of these amounts were studied also on celery, not only cultivated as main crop but after early potatoes too.
The effect of different doses of these sources of nitrogenous fertilizers and fractionation of these amounts were studied also on celery, not only cultivated as main crop but after early potatoes too.
Sodium nitrate gave the best results of marketable yield.
Regardless of the type of nitrogenous fertilizer applied, the highest yield has been obtained with 225 kg/ha N and after early potatoes with 150 kg/ha N. In general, the fractionation of the nitrogen fertilization was better than a broadcast fertilization of nitrogen in one time at the planting date.
High levels of mineral nitrogen can give a negative effect on quality.
