Abstract
New Fusarium wilts were detected on jade plant (Crassula ovate), crested molded wax agave (Echeveria agavoides) and Iceland poppy (Papaver nudicaule) growing in farms located in Liguria (northern Italy). The fungal causal agent of the diseases was isolated on Komadas Fusarium-selective medium and pure cultures of the isolates were subcultured on different media to observe the features of macroconidia, microconidia and chlamydospores.
Morphological characteristics observed on the microscope permitted to identify as Fusarium oxysporum the isolates from the new hosts.
The ITS (Internal Transcribed Spacer) analysis confirmed the identification.
Since this pathogen was reported for the first time on these hosts in Italy, as well as in the world, the presence of three new formae speciales was investigated.
