Abstract
The potentialities of serological detection of lily symptomless virus (LSV) with the immunodiffusion drop test (IDD-test) and with ELISA have been compared in order to gain information for developing new screening programs.
When leaf- or bulb-extracts were analysed with ELISA, absorbance values as low as 0.2 indicated the presence of LSV, whereas the minimum amount of LSV detectable with the IDD-method coincided with an absorbance value in ELISA of about 1.3.
When leaf- or bulb-extracts were analysed with ELISA, absorbance values as low as 0.2 indicated the presence of LSV, whereas the minimum amount of LSV detectable with the IDD-method coincided with an absorbance value in ELISA of about 1.3.
Elimination of mucilages with hemicellulase preparations in the future will render the testing of lily bulbs during the storage period feasible.
