EFFECT OF A WATER STRESS ON THE GLUCID METABOLISM AND THE WATER BALANCE OF CUT CARNATIONS

Abstract
When, after a water stress, a floral branch of carnation Scania is supplied, an initial acceleration of water uptake is observed.
However, lastly the floral branch gradually looses its absorption capacity.
Moreover the transpiration remains active for long.
The water stress does not induce a glucids fall but seems to inhibit the sucrose hydrolytical activity.
