Abstract
Pretreatment with silver thiosulfate (STS) solutions sufficient to provide 2.5 µMoles Ag+ per spike prevented floret abscission in snapdragons (An tirrhinummajus L) caused either by ethylene or by addition of ethephon to the vase solution.
Floral preservatives did not prevent shattering, nor enhance the effect of the STS pretreatment.
