Abstract
The Water retention in sandy, sandy loam and calcareous soils conditioned with bitumenous emulsion (0.0, 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5%), curasol AH (0.0, 0.25, 0.5 and 1.0%) and PAM (0.0, 0.05, 0.1 and 0.2%) on soil weight basis was studied.
Soil moisture constants were affected in soils treated with the hydrophobic or hydrophilic conditioners.
Moisture retained in soil at pF 0 increased with increasing the amount of conditioners applied.
The amount of moisture retained in soils increased at pF 4.19 and decreased at pF 2.01 and 2.54 with increasing the application rate of the hydrophobic materials, but the reverse was true with the hydrophilic ones.
The available water increased with PAM and decreased with both bitumenous emulsion and PVAc.
