Abstract
A high-quality genome sequence of eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) has recently been obtained by the Italian Eggplant Genome Consortium (IEGS). Pseudomolecules as well as unmapped scaffolds were used for the bulk mining of simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers and for the construction of the first eggplant microsatellite marker database.
EgMiDB (Eggplant Microsatellite Database; http://www.eggplantmicrosatellite.org) is a user-friendly and freely accessible tool that offers chromosome-wise as well as location-wise searching of primers by implementing Primer3.
