Abstract
Propagation of walnut (Juglans regia L.) is more difficult compared to most of the fruit species.
It is due to the low rate of callus formation and the presence of high concentration of phenolic compounds.
The aim of the study was to present and discuss of the walnut cultivar ‘Izvor 10’ (Juglans regia L.) by two modern techniques for walnut propagation – in vitro techniques and hot callus method, suitable for local cultivars and forms.
All the details of the technological process were discussed – rootstock production, scion selection, technique and time of grafting, temperature conditions, etc.
Two techniques for walnut propagation were presented in the survey – in vitro propagation and hot callus method.
The results obtained were compared to other widely accepted and popular methods and theoretical and practical conclusions were made, which result in increasing the percentage of successfully propagated walnut ‘Izvor 10’ cultivar.
It was concluded that the described methods of in vitro propagation and hot callus method are suitable for walnut propagation of local cultivars and forms.
