Abstract
The aim of this paper was to evaluate some pomological and physical characteristics of medlar genotypes collected from spontaneous flora in the southern part of Romania (Oltenia region). Genotypes showed high variability in terms of tree and fruit characteristics.
The average fruit weight was between 3.15 and 36.68 g, fruit diameter between 18.43 and 44.15 mm, and fruit volume between 4.38 and 37.18 cm3, respectively.
Statistical analysis revealed great differences in fruit’s physical characteristics among medlar genotypes.
Based on pomological and physical characteristics of medlar, promising genotypes were selected.
