Abstract
Fruit production makes an important contribution to the agricultural sector in Albania, providing about 20% of the total agricultural output.
Apple is the most important fruit species.
Fruit export, though still modest, indicates a sector comparative advantage.
We have analysed the apple value chain in terms of stability of the channel, price, product characteristics, insecurity, competition, etc.
The economic advantages of growing apple trees compared to other fruit trees have been based on a large data set.
This research draws conclusions on the further developments in the apple sector in Albania.
