Abstract
The cultivated asparagus (Asparagus officinalis L.) is an important vegetable because of its rich nutrients and medicinal value.
The traditional selection of asparagus needs long time because of the blindness of inheritance of phenotypic characters, while the molecular marker can provide more effective proof for selection.
The main types of molecular markers were introduced in this article, including RAPD, RFLP, SCAR, STS, and AFLP. Meanwhile, the application of DNA markers was mainly stated, inclusive of genetic map construction, gene location, varietal purity identification, genetic diversity analysis, and marker-assisted selection.
This paper is to provide a useful reference for resource utilization and breeding of asparagus.
