Abstract
Flowering in fruit trees is discussed in relation to changes in the endogenous hormone complement of the tissue and the effects of applied plant growth regulatory compounds.
Flower induction may be inhibited by gibberellins originating mainly from the fruit and promoted by cytokinins, implying control by a balance of hormones.
