Abstract
Application of ethephon (2-chloroethyl phosphonic acid) to plants of broadleaf mistletoe (Phoradendron tomentosum) infesting deciduous landscape trees induced abscission of leaves and branchlets.
At the highest concentrations tested (2% active ingredient) all the branchlets fell of within 75 days of the application.
Even after a further 150 days, little regrowth was apparent.
The practical implications of this study are discussed.
