Abstract
The study on the effects of ethephon on flowering of two lychee cultivars showed that ethephon sprayed on the trees increased flowering in "Hong Huay" cultivar.
The highest amount of flowering in this cultivar was obtained with the ethephon treatment at 100 ppm when the application was made in December.
In every concentration ethephon was found to decrease percent flowering in the "O-Hia" cultivar.
The higher the concentration of ethephon applied at a time when the tree approached flowering, the lower the percentage of flowers the trees can produce.
In both cultivars, the higher concentration of ethephon applied near the flowering time, the smaller the inflorescences were obtained.
