Abstract
Knowledge transfer needs models of the real world.
Thereby it is of great importance to find an acceptable representation of reality in the model.
Traditional mainly arithmetic models were used.
They use algorithms which fix the individual steps of resolution.
Expert system technics allow the introduction of verbal models.
Its inference mechanism builds up a chain of reasoning until a solution of the inital problem is found.
A combination of these both technics enables scientifics to build up powerfull decision support systems and to adapt data processing more naturally to the structure of the problem.
