Abstract
Since 1974 more than 4000 imported medicinal samples have been analysed for pesticide residues. 172 samples contained higher level of residues than permitted by the Hungarian law.
Among the rejected samples originated from all parts of the World (46 countries) Mediterranian and subtropical ones were dominating.
Data were also obtained about the persistence of residues.
After 24 month storage the residue level decreased only 5–10 % in Aurantii flos, Ipecacuanhae radix, Majoranae herba, Stramonii folium and Valerianae rhizomes.
