Abstract
In the pharmacoflora of Croatia alkaloid species occupy a significant place with regard to the frequency and production of certain alkaloid compounds.
Certain families are important due to the considerable quantities of certain types of alkaloids the applications and importance of which in present day pharmacology are immense and ubiquitous (atropine, scopolamine, solanine, hyosciamine, aconitine, ephedrine). Biogeographical characteristics condition the appearance and expressivity of some alkaloids types (Horvat et al., 1974) which are manifested in their zonal divisions and phytocoenological affiliations.
Exploitability of alkaloids for pharmacological purposes is possible only in areas which are not influenced by pollutants, which is most frequently the case in certain highland and mountain regions, as well as in some lowland
