Abstract
The palm collection of the Experimental Nursery of FCAV-UNESP was established in 1966 at the former Horto Florestal de Jaboticabal, at Jaboticabal, SP, Brazil.
The main objective was to create a seed bank and to produce seedlings for distribution in order to conserve native species.
Native and exotic species were introduced by obtaining seeds and seedlings from several institutions and localities all over Brazil.
The collection today has 52 genera with 126 species and 2 natural hybrids.
Most individuals are identified.
Genera with a large number of species are Sabal, Syagrus, Butia, Scheelea, and Livistona.
