Abstract
Three trials were carried out on cultured shoot tips of Nemaguard and Meet-Ghamt peaches.
In the first trial, surface sterilization for 20 minutes in sodium hypochlorite (0.5%) as compared with calcium hypochlorite (10%) and mercuric chloride (0.2%), gave the highest percentage of aseptic and survival shoot tips.
In the second trial, aseptic and survival shoot tips were grown on an established medium containing Murashige and Skoog (MS) salts supplemented with benzyl adenine (BA) and indole butyric acid (IBA). The combination of 0.2 mg/L BA + 0.01 mg/L IBA for Nemaguard and of 0.1 or 0.2 mg/L BA + 0.01 mg/L IBA for Meet-Ghamre, yielded in the highest average of shoot number per explant.
In the third trial, established shoots were grown on a multiplication medium supplemented with BA at different concentrations.
Increasing BA concentration from 1 to 5 mg/L increased the average shoot number per explant, but decreased shoot length.
