FLORAL BUD DIFFERENTIATION AND ACTIVITY OF ANNA APPLE TREES ON DIFFERENT ROOTSTOCKS

Floral differentiation of buds occurred during nine stages from June 13th 1990 till March 6th 1991. There were slight differences in dates of floral differentiation due to the studied rootstocks of MM. III, MM. 106 and EM. IX. However, dome like shape was recorded up to June 13th.
The bud apex became flat in shape on July 16th, and on August 16th sepal primordia were first noticed.
Stamen primordia occurred on September 17th and differentiation of anthers was observed at 15th November.
The appearance of petal and pistil primordia was noticed at 21st Nov., style and anthers with pollen mother cells were observed in Jan. 3rd.
Formation of tetra microspores could be seen in Feb. 10th.
Finally, complete differentiated flowers were observed in March 6th.
Bud burst activity was started from 2nd.
Feb. and ended by 15th March, and the determination coefficient between dates and bud burst activity for different rootstocks was highly significant in respect to different bud locations.

Moreover, the duration of blooming on MM. 106 was the longest, followed by MM. III, while on EM IX it was the shortest.
