Abstract
Fire blight was for the first time observed in a pear orchard in southern Sweden in 1986. Since 1989 the disease has spread along the south and west coast with the most frequent number of new outbreaks in 1990. Besides pear, hawthorn, apple, Sorbus aria and Cotoneaster salicifolius have been infected.
Weather data from the years 1986 until 1995 were studied in relation to fire blight outbreaks.
Calculations of weather related infection risk (WIR) scores according to Billing (1992) together with maximum temperatures during the pear blooming period have been considered.
Yearly reports are presented.
