Abstract
Erwinia amylovora was recovered from 9 symptomless side shoots of 6 (20%) of 30 Improved Red Jonathan/EM7 trees grown in the greenhouse for about 10 months.
These trees were originally inoculated in the shoot tip and 2 months later, several symptomless side shoots developed from axillary buds below the base of the canker.
