Abstract
An experiment was carried out at El-Bosaily greenhouse site, in North Coast of Egypt.
This soil suffers from a lack of organic matter and clay content., as well as alkaline conditions, meanwhile the cropping pattern in this soil contributes to Fe, Zn, Mn, and Cu deficiencies.
Applying micro nutrient fertilizers with irrigation water is a regular practice in greenhouses.
The objective of this work was to study the effect of Fe, Mn, Zn, and Cu in EDTA chelated form under two systems of fertilization, i.e., fertigation and foliar on cucumber yield and content of Fe, Mn, Zn and Cu in its leaves.
Samples of soil and irrigation water were analyzed to identify their characteristics.
Data show that cucumber yield under foliar was increased compared with fertigation system at different regimes.
The increase ranged from 20.3 to 32.6% of the yield.
Meanwhile, these micro nutrient elements in cucumber leaves were higher in case of foliar application than in case of fertigation system at any rate of applications.
On the other hand, at the end of the experiment, the concentrations of AB-DTPA extratable of Fe, Mn, Zn and Cu in soil samples under micro nutrient fertigation system were higher than those of foliar application, under our conditions.
