Abstract
Pollen from three cultivars of Pyrus communis and from Pyrus boissierana was used to fertilize the Packham Triumph cultivar of Pyrus communis pear.
The resultant seeds were examined for GPI, IDH, PGM, ADH and MDH activities after extraction and electrophoresis.
Distinct polymorphism bands and different zones of activity were observed for GPI and ADH isozyme systems.
MDH produced no polymorphic bands.
No detectable bands were observed for PGM and IDH systems.
Examination of the inheritance of the polymorphic bands of GPI showed a 2:1:1 ratio among the progenies for crosses Packham X Josephine, Packham X Lemon Bergamot, and Packham X P. boissierana. Two ADH alleles of ac and aa were obtained in the cross Packham X Josephine, but only the aa band in the cross Packham X Lemon Bergamot was observed.
