Abstract
Different reaction of stock-scion combinations of apple tree to increased rates of Cu2+ in the soil depending on degree of tolerance of the used cultivar and rootstock to the unfavourable factor was observed under conditions of pot and field experiment.
The tolerance of rootstock, cultivar (stock-scion combination) is defined by the value of concentration range within limits of which the plant preserves relative stability of metabolic activity.
The tolerance of apple tree to the toxic factor is connected with the existence of barriers interfering with the transport of excessive amounts of copper to vital plant organs and structures.
Different sensitivity of stock-scion combinations to ion toxicity was found already in the first growing period and remained in successive years.
This fact points out to the possibility of early diagnostics of the mentioned feature.
The criteria of fast selection of stock-scion combinations of apple tree relatively resistant to copper toxicity are the growth indices and primary photosynthetic processes defined at the level of Cu increased up to 15 mg/kg of soil.
