Abstract
The antibacterial activity of the dichloromethanic and ethanolic extracts of Artichoke (Cynara scolymus L.) was investigated.
Dichloromethanic extracts, in concentrations of 5mg/ml, completely inhibited the growth with a bactericidal effect on Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus cereus and B. subtilis. Five different components with antimicrobial activity were identified.
