Abstract
Five pentacyclic triterpenes were isolated from Austroplenckia populnea (Reiss) and identified as abruslactone A, 3-epi-abruslactone, populninic acid, populnilic acid and katononic acid.
These were tested for antibacterial activities against Escherichia coli, Streptococcus faecalis, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus epidermides, and Salmonella sp. The substances showed good antibacterial activity.
