GIBBERELLIC ACID EFFECT ON SPROUTING AND NUTRITIONAL BALANCE OF YOUNG TREES OF ‘KEITT’ MANGO AT THE MAYO VALLEY, SONORA

Abstract
The bloom process on young trees of mango (Mangifera indica L.) obtained by grafting, cause delay in vegetative growth.
The purpose of this research was to determine the amount of floral inhibition induced by gibberellic acid (50 ppm) applied through different stages of development on trees aged six month after planted.
Results indicated that spraying in September-November-January and July-September-November-January inhibed floral budding 77% and 55%, respectively.
Statistical differences occurred in relation to other treatments.
The control showed 95% of flowering.
The nutritional content monitored by the technique of leaf analysis indicated a general decrease in nutriment concentration except for Calcium (Ca), but a strong negative effect on Nitrates (N-NO3), Iron (Fe) and Zinc (Zn). Afterwards, general high levels of nutrient concentration were observed again mainly in those elements that were strongly affected at the beginning of this study.
It seems that inducing high levels of vegetative sprouting, affect positively the nutrient availability and a better uptake capacity.
