Abstract
Integrated fruit production (IFP) management is an approach to improve pest control, plant nutrition, fruit monitoring, and fruit tracking aiming environmental quality and fruit safety.
It employs physical, mechanical, cultural, biological, and educational techniques to keep the occurrence of pests low enough to prevent unacceptable damage, with low chemical pesticides and low levels of residue.
Trials took place in the south of Brazil in two Chimarrita commercial peach orchards, under different soil and climate conditions.
The objective of these trials was to compare IFP management with conventional fruit production (CFP) management and to evaluate the effects of IFP management on fruit quality parameters: weight, firmness, soluble solids content (SSC), and titratable acidity (TA). Some fruit quality parameters were affected by the management technology applied.
Fruits from both orchards produced under IFP management did not show residue of pesticides.
