GREENHOUSE NATURAL VENTILATION MODELLING: A SURVEY OF THE DIFFERENT APPROACHES

Abstract
After a brief analysis of the mechanisms involved in the natural ventilation of greenhouses together with their attached experimental methods, four different approaches of natural ventilation in greenhouses are presented.
Analytical models for limited zones such as the model of the plume generated by natural convection above heating pipes in greenhouse row crops and the greenhouse crop leaf boundary layer climate in relation with the ventilation regime.
Computer Fluid Dynamics for modelling the aerial transfers and the distributed climate are also reviewed with a special attention paid on greenhouse crop system modelling and the question of the CFD model validation.
Zonal models, which are intrinsically linked to experimental measurements used for the in situ identification of their coefficients, are also exposed, together with their associated measurement techniques such as the air exchange rate measurements.
Behavioural models of natural ventilation such as neural network are also presented.
In conclusion it is recall that the challenge is now to use more frequently these models in order to master more precisely the greenhouse environment and with a greater economy of means, matter and energy and a better efficiency.
