Abstract
Rose-hips and sea buckthorn berries of 85 and 51 genotypes, respectively, were analysed for content of carotenoids.
Influences of ripening on carotenoid content were investigated in 4 genotypes of each species.
Several different carotenoids of various amounts were identified in the investigated plant material.
Cultivar and time of harvest were revealed as important factors determining the content of carotenoids in both rose-hips and sea buckthorn berries.
