Abstract
The effects of ethanol on cut flowers of anthurium (Anthurium andraeanum L. cv.
Marshall) were studied by treating stems with up to 2% ethanol solution and measuring spathe color changes, change of fresh weight, water uptake and vase life.
Treatment with 0.05% ethanol did not affect the vase life of cut anthurium in comparison with control (29 d), while use of 2% ethanol solution shortened the vase life of flower (16 d). However, there were no significant differences in fresh weight, water uptake and changes in flower color among all treatments.
