Abstract
To improve the quality of Perlette grapes and to enhance its maturity the technology, i.e., Flower bud thinning (70%) with brush (1st week of April) + Two GA3 (40 ppm) dips (1st after fruit set at 4 mm berry size and 2nd six days latter) + Girdling (removing 4 mm ring of bark in between the two GA3 dips) has been recommended to the grape growers of North India.
An experiment was carried out to ascertain the effect of foliar sprays of potassium salts (Potassium Sulphate and Monopotassium Phosphate) on the quality of Perlette grapes.
All the treatments, i.e., technology alone or in combination with foliar sprays were on a par as far as fruit yield is concerned, but significantly lesser than control.
The bunch length and bunch breadth were not affected significantly by any of the treatments.
The highest bunch weight (344 g) was recorded with Technology + monopotassium phosphate (1.5%), it was followed by Technology + monopotassium phosphate (1.0%). The maximum TSS (18.46%) and minimum acidity were recorded with Technology + Potassium Sulphate (1.5%) and it was on a par with Technology + Potassium Sulphate (1.0%) and Technology + monopotassium phosphate (1.5%). Fifty-four days were required from full bloom to harvest in case of grapes with Technology + potassium sulphate (1.5%) and Technology + monopotassium phosphate (1.0% and 1.5%) as compared to 64 days in control.
