Abstract
Cornelian cherry is a native fruit of Turkey.
Traditionally, it is utilised as fresh and dried fruit, jam, juice and pickle.
Since its wood is flexible, it is used in the production of walking sticks and wooden furniture.
Cornelian cherry existed in nature in three forms in Turkey: wild, grafted and ungrafted public selections.
In the study, a selection procedure was conducted in the Marmara Region.
The types were evaluated with regards to yield (per tree), fruit size, stone size, fresh/stone percentage, dry matter content, fruit taste and vitamin C content.
Also, tree characteristics, pest and diseases situation of the types were observed.
As a result of the study, 7 genotypes were selected.
In comparison, the genotypes were superior to the other types selected before from different parts of the country.
