HYDRANGEA RING SPOT VIRUS IN HYDRANGEA SPP. PLANTS IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC

Abstract
In a survey carried out in 2005-2007 Hydrangea ring spot virus (HdRSV) was detected in 17 out of 108 localities in Hydrangea macrophylla (12 localities) and H. serrate (6 localities). H. arborescens and sporadically growing H. paniculata were also tested and in all cases were found to be negative.
H. macrophylla expressed symptoms of mild to severe diffuse chlorosis and diffuse chlorotic spots.
Different symptoms were observed on H. serrate, in all cases in the form of conspicuous chlorotic rings and line patterns that in the autumn turned to red-purple.
HdRSV was detected by DAS-ELISA, biological tests on Chenopodium quinoa, C. amaranticolor and Nicotiana benthamiana and ISEM.
