Abstract
The major components of the alkane fraction of the pyrethrum flower head are shown to be a series of n-alkanes from C23 to C31. The presence of minor components of complex composition having an equivalent carbon range of C33 to C43 is recognised.
Analysis of the separated flower head reveals that the anther and stamen together with the associated pollen are rich in n-C25 while the remaining parts have n-C29 as the major component.
