Abstract
The severe outbreak of fire blight in two regions of the Netherlands in 1979 could largely be explained when Billing’s system was applied in an analysis of the data collected that year.
The data and their analysis are presented.
Because of the good results several observation-posts have been set-up in 1980 in order to check more thoroughly the usefulness of the system Billing under Dutch conditions, the aim being to lay the base for a spray warning system for fruitgrowers.
