Abstract
Saintpaulia and Pelargonium are selected as model plants to induce genetic variability in vitro.
Lamina and peduncle pieces are treated mutagenically with NMU or Gamma rays, respectively, and cultivated in vitro on an Linsmaier and Skoog basic medium with low concentrations of IAA and BAP.
Lamina and peduncle pieces are treated mutagenically with NMU or Gamma rays, respectively, and cultivated in vitro on an Linsmaier and Skoog basic medium with low concentrations of IAA and BAP.
The number of induced mutants and the non chimaric character demonstrate the efficiency of the in vitro mutagenesis to increase the genetic variability in mainly vegetatively propagated plant species.
