Abstract
Horticultural education is part of the curriculum in primary and secondary schools, the university and in the Ministry of Agriculture Training Institutes (M.A.T.I.s). Specialised training in horticulture is provided at the national Horticultural Research and Training Institute (HORTI) at Tengeru, by the Ministry of Agriculture.
A two-year diploma course is conducted in accordance with a practically oriented curriculum.
HORTI also conducts short courses for extension workers in horticulture and organizes field days for farmers.
The Tanzanian-Netherlands Horticultural Project which is based at HORTI has published a book on Horticulture in Tanzania.
