Abstract
High CO2 concentrations can induce injury on leaves of some plants.
Three different types of injury are known.

  • Leaf roll (tomato) and chlorosis/necrosis (chrysanthemum) of the older leaves.
It is probably caused by starch excess in the chloroplasts.
    Decrease of the photosynthetic rate.

  • Chlorosis, followed by necrosis of the oldest leaves of cucumber, tomato and gerbera.

  • Chlorosis and necrosis of the top leaflets of just full-grown tomato leaves.

These types of injury may also result from other climatic factors.
The possible causes of injury are discussed.
