Abstract
Bark has different qualities compared to other growth media as peat, soil, or rockwool.
These qualities and their consequences are discussed with special reference to potentially growth reducing compounds and elements, to the nutrient ballance, and to physical conditions.
The discussions are based mainly on results from experiments with spruce bark (P. abies) in Norway.
