DECLARATION OF GROWING MEDIA AND GOVERNMENTAL REGULATIONS ON THE TRADE OF THESE PRODUCTS IN NORWAY

In Norway growing media and soil inprovers offered for sale, are placed under the Act of 4. December 1970 concerning the trade of fertilizers, soil improvers and similar products. ("Lov nr. 83 av 4.desember 1970 om handel med gjødsel og jordforbedringsmidler m.v.")

According to the law you need governmental approval to sell growing media.
The approval is given after a physical and chemical test of the product together with a check of text for the declaration on the bag.

Product declaration, packing and marking of growing media are standardized through the Norwegian Standards Association.
The directions given to carry out the law, refer directly to the standards.
In other words the Norwegian standards for declaration of growing media are not only words of guidance.
