Abstract
The logical implication of using the Group to associate cultivars into sets is introduced to indicate the need to use some taxonomic method in forming groups.
The overall range of variation among garden Confiers is summarised and the variation patterns combined to form a maximum of ten groups.
The method is illustrated by disposing a selection of the cultivars of the Chinese Thuya into two botanical forms and eight Groups and the principles of the method are listed to indicate their general applicability.
