Abstract
Three categories of weedy beets are described: sugar beet volunteers, wild forms and their hybrids with cultivated types, and true ruderals.
Those which are capable of hybridising with cultivated beets prove most interesting in terms of taxonomy, crop evolution and genetic resources.
