Abstract
Up to now, no efficient control method has been found yet to protect the apricot trees against the Chlorotic leaf roll, a mycoplasmal disease which in some European countries is the main cause of apricot decline.
While the vectors are not known, it is impossible to devise a rational program of protection against the natural spreading in orchards.
The safety of sanitary checking is also questionnable.
In areas where the disease is particularly severe, cross-protection with mild strains might bring a practical means of control.
