THE CAPABILITY OF IN VITRO REGENERATION OF VARIOUS CULTIVARS OF FREESIA HYBRIDA

Abstract
Under the same initial conditions, young flower ovaries of 20 freesia cultivars were used as primary explants to compare their regeneration capability.
The regeneration of shoots varied in the range 0–16 and did not depend on the rate of multiplication of stock plants.
The highest number of plantlets was observed with cultivars Amazone, Aida, Rose Marie, R. Golden Yellow, Lawinia and Red Panther which developed into callus first.
